Poems

Poems are probably one of the best ways we as humans describe ourselves or what goes on in our life in the most unique way possible. From telling people who we are to talking about relationships or a day in the life, writing a poem gives us the freedom to explain those things in very creative ways. Poetry has been going on for about as long as we could write and some of the greatest poets such as Edgar Allen Poe would write poems that at first glance seemed simplistic but once you analyze every word, you realize there are deeper meanings for every single one of them. If you pay attention to how most forms of entertainment are made then you would see that Poetry is arguably the most influential source for movies, music, and video games. Rapping probably has the biggest inspiration from poems because of the way rappers have to play with words with similies and metaphors. The poem that I have read today is a short poem called the beautiful chaos of life by Kim McCrea https://familyfriendpoems.com/poem/82980. Although this is a short poem there is alot of meaning behind not jus the whole message of the poem but also with most of the words. It starts of by saying “In all chaotic beauty lies a wounded work of art” and reading the whole poem I can understand that she is talking her significant person in their relationship and she is saying that for as beautiful as that person is whether it be on the inside or out, they are hurt or broken emotionally. For the next stanza, it says “Beautiful but torn wreaking havoc on my heart “, with this she is still talking about her significant other and she is still calling her beautiful which shows she still has feelings for this person but she also thinks they are heavily flawed and they don’t know what they want, hence why she said “torn” . She feels like she’s more serious about the relationship than her significant other, which is why she says their “wreaking havok on her heart”. This stanza to me is what really made me understand what she was saying in the poem, it goes “camouflaged by insecurities blinded by it all”, right here she simply points out the her significant other is so insecure, and always wanting more that they can’t even notice the person that truly cares about them. The last stanza, which is “I love the way you sit there and don’t notice me at all” kinda has the same meaning as the last one, she just worded it differently, but overall the poem is basically about her expressing her frustrations about how she loves her significant other but she feels like they don’t love her the same way or put in the same effort.
